Martina McBride To Big Machine / Republic Nashville?
Big Machine Records and Republic Nashville are set to announce something big on Monday morning. Could it be that the multi-time Female Vocalist of the Year winner Martina McBride could be set to join their ranks? We've all heard the rumors and it sure seems to make sense. With Joe Galante leaving Sony/BMG it makes sense for McBride to move on now as well.
I know I'm biased, I worked for Martina for over a decade and a half and never thought that RCA/BMG/Sony (or whatever they're called today) promoted her with both barrels. Her vocal abilities are truly unmatched in the country genre and beyond and she is certainly a very likable and marketable artist across the board.
Big Machine knows how to promote an artist. They have Taylor Swift, the biggest artist in the galaxy at this point and they also have a track record of taking an artist like Jack Ingram, who even though he was extremely talented, toiled away for years without commercial success and took him to the top.
A Martina McBride / Big Machine match-up would be a perfect one in my opinion. Some people might think that being on a label with Taylor Swift would be bad for an artist but I completely disagree. It gives those label mates some strong bargaining power with anyone that wants access to Taylor. With the right push let's hope the rest of the world wakes up to the immense talent that Martina McBride is!
